On Line Obituary

October 2, 1951 – September 2, 2019

Diana McGee Fillmore of Murray, Utah passed away on September 2, 2019 after a long struggle with cancer. Diana was born in Ganado, Arizona on October 2, 1951 to Eugene LeRoy McGee and Barbara Dee Hanberg. She was the oldest of 4 children, with younger brothers Randy, Bryan, and Kim. She spent several years on the Indian reservation before her family relocated to Salt Lake City. She attended BYU where she met her eternal companion, James B. Fillmore. They were married in 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple and moved to Murray Utah in 1972 where they raised six children: Eli (Lisa), Rachel (Seth) Smythe, Rafeal (Heather), Rebecca (Kelly) Taylor, Seth (Abbie), and Jonathon. Diana and Jim have 15 grandchildren.

Diana worked as an employment specialist in the Granite School District for many years where she helped students with disabilities gain work experience. She had many interests including gardening, sewing, reading and traveling. One of her favorite destinations was Hawaii. She liked to oil paint which she always said was her therapy. She liked to keep up with technology, at one time teaching herself how to program her computer. She was fond of animals. She was the one that would catch snakes in the yard and take them to the river.

But her greatest love was for her family and her church in which she served faithfully, including ministering at the Utah State Prison. She served as a full time senior missionary with her husband in the Salt Lake City Utah Central Mission. She had a great love for family history and temple work. She served many years in the Jordan River Temple and finally was able to serve for two years in the temple in Panama City, Panama where she enthusiastically learned Spanish. The time in Panama was one of the highlights of her life. She blessed the lives of many on both sides of the veil.

Thanks to family, friends, neighbors and ward members who have blessed her life and been especially supportive through these difficult times. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Utah Cancer Center and Quality Home Health and Hospice for their care and support.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Green Oaks Chapel, (932 Greenoaks Dr, Murray, UT) at 11:00 am. with a viewing from 10:00 am. to 10:45 am. Interment will be at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery (6500 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT).
